Learn to Speak English While Singing! It’s Fun! And it Works!!!
Many people from different parts of the world desire to speak American English without their native accent. Perhaps you’ve decided that you want to sing or speak without your native accent. A quick search of the internet will reveal many people, products and methods related to teaching accent reduction. So, you can just choose one, right? They are all pretty much the same, aren’t they? Not so! First of all, virtually all of the accent reduction products for sale are designed to address the speaking voice and not the singing voice. Since you are a singer and a student of the Zagaria Vocal Method (ZVM) you have to be careful! You are learning to use your voice, body and mouth in a unique way. By now you have probably learned some techniques related to reducing tension. You have been working on a different type of oral positioning for vocalizing vowels. It was hard work and we don’t want to undo it!
Using traditional methods of accent reduction for speaking can do just that. Those methods rely on teaching traditional oral positions and mouth shapes to produce American English speech sounds. For speaking, it works well. For singing, it can create tension and reduce tone. There is a better way! By using this accent reduction program, you will learn to reduce your native accent while singing, without jeopardizing the progress you are making within the ZVM.
Learning to sing without you native accent will be easier than learning to speak without it. Some recent research suggests that the default accent that most foreign singers naturally fall into when singing in English is the American one.
